II: 🕌Ancient mosques and historical sites

  1. Xianxian Mosque

Built in 629, it is one of the oldest Islamic tombs in the world and one of the few Muslim tombs preserved outside the Arab region. Legend has it that the Islamic missionary Wan Gesu (also translated as Suhabai) was buried here after his death in Guangzhou. Next to the ancient tomb of the sages, in addition to the burial of some prestigious heads of all generations, there is also a "Tomb of the Forty-one Sages". The ancient tomb of the halal sages is a garden-style cemetery with a courtyard layout, surrounded by blue brick walls, worship halls, square pavilions and compartments. The existing halls and other buildings in the cemetery are all in the style of the Ming Dynasty. The ancient tomb of halal sages is an important holy place for Islam in Guangzhou. It is a witness to the early spread of Islam through the Maritime Silk Road. It is also the embodiment of Chinese culture's acceptance and integration of foreign religious elements with its own customs and traditions. 2. Huaisheng Temple (Gwangta Temple)

It was built in 627 in the Tang Dynasty. It was built by Saad Abbi Wangsu, a missionary sent by the Prophet Muhammad, and witnessed the prosperity of the Maritime Silk Road. Also known as Guangta Temple, it is located on Guangta Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. Together with Quanzhou Qingjing Temple, Hangzhou Phoenix Temple and Yangzhou Xianhe Temple, they are known as the four famous mosques that were first established after Islam was introduced to China. The temple is called "Waisheng", which means to miss the saint of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Legend has it that it was built by Wangus, an Arab Islamic preacher who came to China in the early Tang Dynasty, and donated funds for Arab Muslim businessmen living in Guangzhou at that time. There are also Tang and Song Arab community sites nearby. Banfang - a historical place name. It is located in the area of Guangxiao Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. Rumor has it that it was named because it was the residence of foreign merchants in the Tang and Song Dynasties (foreigners are called Fanren in Cantonese).

3. Xiaodongying Mosque:

During the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty. Han Yong, the governor of the two Guangxi, sent a large number of troops from Nanjing to Guangzhou out of military needs, including more than 1,000 Muslim troops stationed in Nanjing at that time. After the Hui army came to Guangzhou, it was divided into four battalions: Dadong, Xiaodong, Xiying and Zhutong, commonly known as "Huhuiying", and stationed inside and outside Guangzhou respectively. Today's Xiaodongying Street is the former site of Xiaodongying in the past, hence the name. Since then, these Hui people have settled in Guangzhou, and this street has also become one of their settlements. Many of the Hui compatriots in Guangzhou are descendants of the Hui army. They built three mosques in the settlements of Haopan Temple, Nansheng Temple and Dongying Temple respectively。

4. Haoban Mosque:

Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty pacified the world. After more than a thousand Hui troops stationed in Guangzhou, they built a new city and dug a moat in the south city.
